NURSERY HELPER
Thank you for helping with our youngest members of the church. Your role is to provide safe, secure, and nurturing care to our children.
Separation from parents and caregivers is a difficult time for some children and/or caregivers, so please be patient with their tears and fears. We will try to comfort the child as best we can or if need be, return them to their parent or caregiver.
Assisting nursery director, Lori Sheriff, is as simple as:
•Holding and soothing a child
○ Going to get a parent or caregiver, if needed
•Play with the child(ren) or give guidance in directing their play
•Assist Lori Sheriff with planned activities
•Help with snack time and/or supervise child(ren) personal snack
○Be aware of choking hazards
○Help to prevent spills when possible
○Assist in clean-up of snack area
•Help monitor toy use and cleaning of toys
○As the children are playing, separate any toys that have
been put into a mouth into the cleaning bin
○Keep the infant/teething toys clean and in a separate bin
•Interactions with parent(s) or primary caregiver(s)
○Always thank them for bringing their child(ren) as it is a
privilege to serve them (be sure to use their names)
○Always smile!!!
Nursery director, Lori Sheriff, will be responsible for the following:
•Signing the child(ren) In and Out
•Verifying information sheet for child(ren)
•Changing Diapers and/or helping with bathroom usage of potty
and non-potty-trained toddlers
•Extra care to help transition an apprehensive child. As the
constant caregiver to our church family children, Lori needs to
develop a special relationship with them and their caregiver(s)
by building trust and getting to know them.
Mark 9:36-37 And Jesus took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”
